| Content | Gemcitabine is a cytidine analog with two fluorine atoms.As a prodrug, gemcitabine is transformed into its active metabolites that work by replacing the building blocks of nucleic acids during DNA elongation, arresting tumour growth and promoting apoptosis of malignant cells. | Nystatin is an antifungal medicine and not an antibiotic. It makes holes in the cell membrane of the fungus and the contents leak out. This kills the fungus and treats the infection. If you're taking nystatin to prevent an infection, the medicine kills any fungus as it starts to appear.
