| Content | Filgrastim injection is used to treat neutropenia (low white blood cells) that is caused by cancer medicines. It is a synthetic (man-made) form of a substance that is naturally produced in your body called a colony stimulating factor. Filgrastim helps the bone marrow to make new white blood cells. | Nystatin is an antifungal medicine and not an antibiotic. It makes holes in the cell membrane of the fungus and the contents leak out. This kills the fungus and treats the infection. If you're taking nystatin to prevent an infection, the medicine kills any fungus as it starts to appear.
